Two of the major benefits of partnership publishing are that you, the author, have a say in each step of the production along the way and your book is normally published within four to six months of receipt of a finished manuscript, whereas in a traditionally published program, this could take two to three years and you lose editorial control.
This program is designed for books that have a full color cover and black and white text throughout. If your book has color illustrations or text, contact us for a quote on custom printing. Please send us a description of your book to see if it qualifies for this program. A manuscript evaluation is available for $400 and this fee can be fully applied to any work we are hired to perform. We do not accept books of the following nature: pornography.
We reserve the right to accept or reject any manuscript. Please do not submit a manuscript without prior approval.

Silver Program - Author contributes $6,000 and receives a 15% royalty on net sales. On all secondary rights, the author receives a 40% royalty, per the terms of the agreement. This plan applies to books under 200 pages only and does not include a media kit, website, or publicity.
The author is able to purchase books from the publisher at a 60% discount to offer at conferences, trade shows, and on their website. Royalties will not be paid on these copies. We act as the publisher and handle:
Full book production - Includes cover design, minor editing, proofreading, interior design, ISBN and back cover copy. If extensive editing is needed a separate fee will apply.
Distribution - Our books are distributed by Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com BarnesandNoble.com, Walmart.com, Target.com, BooksaMillion.com, and many more traditional stores and websites.
Publicity and marketing available for an additional fee.
Gold Program - Author contributes $12,000 and receives a 20% royalty on net sales. On all secondary rights the author receives a 50% royalty, per the terms of the agreement. The Gold Plan includes three months of publicity. After the terms of the agreement are up ongoing publicity will be charged at a rate of $1,500 per month.
The author is able to purchase books from the publisher at a 60% discount to offer at conferences, trade shows, and on their website. Royalties will not be paid on these copies.

Platinum Progam - For those authors who need to publish a hardcover book with dust jacket we offer the Platinum Partnership Publishing Program.
Author receives a 50% royalty on net sales. On all secondary rights the author receives a 50% royalty, per the terms of the agreement. The Platinum Plan includes six months of publicity. Please call for more information.
Media Kit Development - To generate maximum exposure for your book, you must grab the attention of the media who will promote it. Gaining the media's attention in a world where they are inundated with requests for coverage requires creativity and skill.
Five Star will design and produce a dynamic media kit that garners attention. Our exciting designs and marketing copy grabs the attention of editors and producers and often results in interviews and/or book reviews. Our media kit consists of:
- A one-page news release (Gold)
- An author bio sheet (Gold)
- A fact sheet for interviewers (Gold)
- 25-word/50-word/100-word descriptions of your book that serve as blurbs or for copy for search engines (Gold)
- A media/sales postcard (Gold)
- Custom mini-website and domain name purchase (Gold)
Publicity and Marketing -
- Printing of 20 Advance Review Copies to be sent to select members of the media, according to the topic of your book and follow-up.
- Pitch 50 top newspaper, radio, and magazine editors and producers and follow-up. Five Star agrees to pay for the printing of media requested review copies and the author pays for actual shipping charges.
- Full featured listings (where appropriate) at www.AuthorsandExperts.com, www.SchoolBookings.com and www.FiveStarPress.com.
- Marketing and promotion on the Internet.
- Localized event coverage when the author travels.
- Your book displayed at BookExpo America.
- Submission to book awards, where appropriate.
