FOUR AWARDS IN 2011 AND COUNTING FOR
FIVE STAR PUBLICATIONS AUTHOR, LISA CERASOLI!
On the Brink of Bliss and Insanity, a fictional romance written with stark wit and mad fascinating characters, just picked up its second win of the year at The 2010 Los Angeles Book Festival. It also won The London Book Festival this past January, and is also written as a feature length film. After this hit novel, Cerasoli surprised us with the true story of life with her ailing grandmother. As Nora Jo Fades Away was released in the spring of 2010. It's on its fourth award and second win from The 2010 Los Angeles DIY Book Festival, this time for best Autobiography/Biography. "If there was an award for speed and passion, Cerasoli would scoop that up, too," says Linda F. Radke, president of Five Star. "There's so much raw truth-telling in her work. And just like real life, too, you catch yourself laughing and crying ... often simultaneously. Siegal Entertainment described Brink as pure, uncensored, humorous madness. And Leeza Gibbons, who wrote the beautiful foreword for Nora Jo states, "Alzheimer's disease has finally found its Tuesdays with Morrie in Cerasoli's memoir.
"I think both books are fast-paced and farcical, it's just that life shot me with a great big dose of 'grow the heck up' while I was writing the memoir. Alzheimer's disease is no laughing matter, except when the alternative is to cry, and that's how we survived living with Gram - between the tears, we did a lot of laughing." After three years of full-time care by Lisa and her family, Nora Jo passed away around Christmas in their home, surrounded by loved ones, due to complications from a heart attack. As Nora Jo Fades Away was recently optioned by RicheProductions of Hollywood, CA. Lisa wrote a series proposal and pilot to go along with the book. "Exposure is crucial. Until we find a cure, it's my goal to help teach the world how to manage this. I can't do it alone, but with the help of exposure from book festivals, people willing to donate their name and their kind words - like Leeza Gibbons, great representation, and an amazing group of family and friends, I will get the job done," adds the author.
"A Buck A Book!" is currently being donated to Leeza's Place and The Alzheimer's Association. You can order both books from your local bookstore, purchase them anywhere online, directly from Five Star Publications' and Lisa's website ... and out of the trunk of her mother's car ("I love you, Mom!"). All in all, Cerasoli has acquired nine national and international awards for her two books in under two years. Not bad for an author who was going to self-publish one week before literary manager, Ken Atchity, found a home for her work at Five Star. Both Awards Ceremonies take place in conjunction with The 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival Awards on March 4th at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, the original home of the Oscars.
