BOOK
Dave Pratt, Behind the Mic: 30 Years in Radio is the life story of a small town boy who beat the odds to become the most prolific name in the history of Arizona radio.
Over three decades, The Morning Mayor has been honored with over 100 awards, sold out arena and stadium concerts, topped ratings in three different formats, become one of the highest paid radio personalities in the nation, defeated cancer, and has raised millions of dollars for charity. More importantly, Dave has never forfeited his personal beliefs and has never sacrificed his personal character. The loyalty of his listeners and the love of his family have continued to be his driving force.
Refreshingly, Dave Pratt has proven that an incredibly successful career
and a deep love for family can find balance in one of entertainment's most turbulent industries. Enjoy this sometimes tear-jerking, sometimes humorous, but always sincere ride with one of radio's legendary performers.

I miss you!!!
You are my friends and most loyal supporters. Although I claim to be a manly man, in all sincerity, your warm e-mails and incredible loyalty have quite often left me staring at my computer screen with teary eyes. As I mentioned in my book, you will always have my family's gratitude. You sincerely own a huge piece of my heart. During my holiday book tour, I literally signed thousands of books and must have received at least a million hugs. I left each Barnes & Noble or signing location feeling like the luckiest man in the world.
First things first, many of you have asked about my return. Although I am not privileged to share specific info with you at this time, you have my word that Arizona is my home. I promise to keep you up to date, but at the same time, I must ask for your patience and understanding. But believe me, I will NEVER leave you. I truly love this city, and I truly love this state. My family will continue to be dedicated to this community. We will continue to be Arizona's most outspoken advocates, and we will continue to contribute to this city and to this state in every way.
Many of you have asked for an update on my crew so here ya go.
Check the weather in Hell, because it has frozen over!! Yes, Stacey is engaged! (Keep your fingers crossed that Wonder Boy never sobers up…..)
Mark Curtis is still my best buddy and is still on 12 News as Arizona's answer to Ron Burgundy. And why am I still buying him dinner every week? By the way, we are so proud of Mark for his intense game coverage from Tampa during Super Bowl week. He dressed like a mermaid and gave us predictions from Pebbles the Penguin.
My other best buddy, Gonzo, is just like me with too much time on his hands. Paula and Christine are trying to secure us jobs as Wal-Mart Greeters.
Shappy has been working out with Second City, the famous comedy troupe in Chicago where John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and many others got their start. And yes, once again, he is absolutely convinced the Cubs will take it all this year. (What's new?)
Duelly landed a job as an air personality and Assistant Program Director in Corpus Christi, Texas. I am already saving up my bail money.
Remember the crepe cooking, parody singing, trivia master and former President of the Arizona State Senate? Well, now our buddy Ken Bennett is the Secretary of State!!
Mrs. Pratt talked our friend Dan Harkins into giving me a yearly movie pass to keep me busy. Plus, Dan often buys me lunch just to keep me out of the house and happily married.
Robert Stieve is still the Editor of Arizona Highways and still my neighbor. We go walking the hood while protecting each other from wild javelina. He also is adept at working my margarita machine. Interesting, but the more margaritas we drink…………. the more wild javelina we see…..
Senator Kyl is now the #2 Republican in Washington as Minority Whip. Does that have anything to do with NASCAR? I still think it is surreal that we had one of the most influential men in the United States covering left turns for us on Monday mornings.
Governor Janet was also a regular on our show. She is now The Secretary of Homeland Security. I think she accepted that job after Duelly moved so close to the border in Corpus Christi.
Coyotes Captain Shane Doan is fighting for the playoffs and still trying to sell me on the superiority of Canadian beer.
Danny Zelisko is still the biggest concert guru in the southwest. We enjoy our cup of coffee in my backyard while watching snowbirds getting rescued off Camelback Mountain. We're exciting guys huh? Plus, we'll probably hook up and hang out at Jimmy Buffett in May.
As for my family……………David (Junior) gets his driving permit this week. Wish me luck! Kyle (Hoss) is only 13 and now 6'1, 220 and training with weights. We had a wrestling match last week and the living room lost. Sammy is still Sammy. He still makes me laugh every single day, and of course, Madison is still "Daddy's girl". She turned 8 last week. We had her party at Pump It Up in Scottsdale with huge inflatable slides and bouncers, the High School Musical 3 soundtrack blasting, 30 sweaty-red faced second graders, pizza, birthday cake and about 4 gallons of hand gel.
As for the lovely Mrs. Pratt, she is trying to get pregnant with octuplets so we can beg the public for money.
There ya go!!! Now you are up to date. If you know of others who would like to stay in touch with me, please share my e-mail okay? themayor@davepratt.net I would love to hear from them.
Finally, on a more serious note, my thoughts are sincerely with all of you who may be struggling through these tough economic times. Remember, stay positive and keep family and close friends as your priority. Everything else will work out over time, but family always has to remain at your center. You will never get these years back. Enjoy every single day. Keep smiling okay? If you and your family are healthy then you are wealthy.
IF YOU DON'T DESERVE IT……WHO DOES?
Dave
